    What do you all think????

I live in SC, which is not an open carry state, which I'd like to see changed, but that's for another time.
I work in NC, which is an open carry state, with a moron, who has is CCW but refuses to carry concealed.
He carries his .45 on hip everywhere he goes, whether it's legal or not.
One place he carries open, regularly, that is off limits, is restaurants, that serve alcohol, I've told him numerous times, "One of these days, you're gonna get some trouble with the law you won't like."
    His reply, "screw em".
Wel,l his trouble came the other day.
A local restaurant/sports-bar, sponsored a meet and great with a NASCAR driver, which happens to be his favorite.
This event was by invitiation, or purchased ticket only, of which he had neither, Barney Bad A$$ decided he was going to crash the party anyway.
Not a good idea, he walked into the establishment, .45 on hip like John Wayne and was promptly escorted out to the parking lot, by local law enforcement.

How stupid can you be, his weapon, was removed from him and ran, came back in his girlfriends name, they ran the tags on his vehicle, came back registered to another vehicle.
He was cited, for the restaurant infraction, given a ticket for ficticious tags, tag was confiscated, and vehicle towed.
None of this would have happened if he had just left the gun in the car.
The officers actually gave him the weapon back, unloaded of course, and told him had it been registered in his name, he wouldn't have seen it again.
This guy is nothing but a wanna be cop and gives us law abiding concealed carriers a black eye.
The end outcome of this incident, was he didn't learn anything from it, he thought it was "funny".
I told him he was an idiot and that people like him don't deserve the right to carry a gun.
It gives the rest of us who are responsible a bad name.

    Too darned true.

I see no point whatsoever in trying to be a total Richard Head and flouting well defined laws. Nothing clever about it but I guess he has macho-itis!

Almost a pity he did not get hit harder from that incident and actually finished up learning something - guess it'll have to happen again.

True too yes - his crass behavior hardly helps the rest of us who actually have some sense of responsibility. Always be some tho, sad to say.

The guy is a pinhead and it generally sums up what a state trooper I know said to me once. If they are doing one thing that is illegal they are usually doing more things illegally if you bother to look.

I don't get the gun registration thing though. I wasn't aware the SC or NC had any gun registration. Like most places they should just be able to run the gun to see if it is reported as stolen and that is that. Maybe the LEO was trying to put a little scare in your co-worker?

There's a saying by a comedian that applies here...Something about you can't fix...

    Don't know

Maybe registration was the wrong word to use, the LEO somehow knew she had purchased it for him, maybe he told the officer that info. He's the type of person, who doesn't want to take responisbility for his actions, so he probably dropped her name so he wouldn't lose the gun. Who knows, he's still an idiot and like p95 said I wish the police had dealt with him , more strictly. Had they known what kind of person they were dealing with, maybe they would have, I doubt it would have done any good. People who believe the law doesn't apply to them, never seem to get the picture. Sorry about the rant, but thinking about, the whole scenario still makes my blood boil.

    Update

Apparently this idiot, has to appear in court, on these two charges. Anyone here, know, what we can expect this loser to get hit with. He's being pretty mute on the whole issue, due to the fact we down at the shop, who carry responsibly, didn't find the whole fiasco, humorous in any way.

    Stupid is as Stupid does

You did what you could to encougage responsible carry, and unfortnately he will be involved with more incidents that will be harder to deal with.
The prisons are full of people that feel the laws do not apply to them and that they got away with something from time to time.
With this attitude he is displaying I am sure he will be in allot of trouble, and keep your distance if he will not listen.
