Never heard of this one before

Ok so here is the scenario... You are walking your dog late at night. As you are walking you notice someone climbing through the window of a house... you stop to investigate and see that there are cars in the driveway but no lights on...so maybe they are asleep... I think i would start banging on the door to alert the residence of what I saw...but then i thought what if i heard a scream!?!?! would i try to enter the home to help someone and risk being shot by a homeowner or wait outside on the phone with 911...in the end the choice is do nothing and wait for 911 or risk your life to save someone elses knowing that not only is there a bad guy but a home owner who may be ready to defend himself..

Sorry, man. No entry in the house, no way, no how.

Too many teens sneak home late at night. I might knock on the door. Otherwise, let the nice policemen tell mom and dad their son was out late.

First, the homeowner is armed and will shoot me. Second, what officer is going to believe the story "Really, officer, I just kicked in his door to help."

I would call 911 and report what is going on from a safe distance. My CFP is not a badge.

Use the cellphone to call 911. You have no idea what the real situation is. While it might be a break in, it might also be a teenager sneaking back into the house. Let the cops handle it.

call the police, let them sort it out. if its someone that locked themselves out or the above mentioned teen sneaking back in then it will all work out just fine.

if the person inside the home took their protection seriously, shortly after you witnessed bag guy entering through window you would have heard some gun shots. thats how it would happen at my place, unless the dog gets him first.

Call 911. Only option. You do not know the full situation.

Could be the homeowner trying to get in. Or, like the kid next door to me tonight - he was locked out of his house - Maybe his sister started screaming because she hurt herself at the same time he crawled through the window. Unlikely? Yes. Possible? Equally yes.

Nor is it a bullet proof vest and months of academy training, just as little sense being dead as there is being stupid (treating CFP as a badge).

Call 911 be a good witness (including those vehicle descriptions and plates if possible), alert a few more people so they can be good witnesses as well.

You rip open your shirt, exposing the blue and red red Super CCW emblem on your chest.

You then fly (or run) to the house and gain entry in the fastest way possible. (you may have to shoot the door hardware)

Run to the upstairs bedroom, turn on the light and shoot the attacker.

If he is in the act of rape, fall to the floor and shoot at an angle that will not hurt the victim if the shot passes through.

Later, you can decide if you will be the pitcher or the catcher on the prison BB team.

    Just call 9 1 1

Primary tool for this is the cell phone
    1. Phone mode: Call 9 1 1
    2. Cam mode: Without approaching, take 1 pic of the cars/plates/scene

Now go home and check on your own family, chamber the shottie just in case, and write up the experience in this forum.

If you carry a gun, carry a cell!
