This did happen but I'm wondering what you folks would have done if it turned ugly.
This happened about 2 months ago. I was leaving my house when I saw a vehicle pull into a driveway very quickly, slam it into reverse and once he was on the curb he quickly jumped out and confronted the people on the sidewalk.
The two males started to fight instantly and of course there was a female yelling at the other male to leave her boyfriend alone. I'm sitting at a 4 way stop watching this and I dial 911 to report the fight in progress. It happened on a Friday night so I knew a response would not happen quickly.
So I inform dispatch of the fight in progress and they asked me if any weapons where involved. It was nighttime and they where not fighting in an area that was lit so I could not answer that question but I could see them I could just not tell if anyone had any sort of weapon without lighting them up which I was not about to do.
The fight went on for a good 5 minutes and both parties did go separate ways before the police arrived but I've been thinking about what if I did see a weapon. What if one man simply grabbed a brick from the wall that was close by. What if one of them pulled a knife and started to stab the other?
Could I just sit in my car knowing I'm armed and just wait for the police to show up? Could I just watch another person die knowing I could take action but do nothing about it since my life is not in danger? Do I really want to step in and attempt to stop the attacker when I can simply watch from a distance and relay what I see to dispatch?
I'm not sure if I could just sit and watch someone get murdered when I have the ability to intervene but the other part of me says do I want to have to deal with getting involved with something that does no concern me.
