One he should have fired as soon as he drew...Second he shouldn't have fired at the get-a-way car. The threat was over. Heck I think the kid wet himself as soon as he saw the gun come out.

It was an "evil black gun" I'm sure the press will report it as an "AK Glock 47 sub machine UZI MAC pistol"

It looks like maybe a Tech 9. The clerk didn't look impressed with them from the beginning.
An armed fleeing felon could still turn and shoot at you, so there is still a threat.

He shot out the car window... "The clerk told police that he shot out a window of the car as the men drove off." Side, rear? who knows...
I Hope he doesn't get in trouble for that... Prolly won't, good.

The video is not great since some action is off camera.... But it looked to me like the clerk did his best. He kept himself alive, and scared the thugs off.........
I did not see the clerk go outside and shoot at the car, but if he did that was probably not smart...... I would have stayed on guard, but I would not have shot at the car. I would have just gotten the best description I could for the cops.......

I was thinking that he might have shot out a window through the open door of the store as the perps were leaving. Nothing in the video or the narrative indicates that he pursued the perps outside the store and fired at the vehicle.

You are more discerning (of the presented facts) than I. You are right, I assumed (I think, logically) that he must have gone out the door...

While it wouldn't bother me a bit to see all armed criminals dropped like a sack of potatoes, I'd hate to try to argue in court that my life was threatened by someone who was running away (and not firing over the shoulder). That could be an exception to FL's very liberal SD laws.

Not a position I would like either, but depending on circumstances, I think that a case could be made for it.

As abelethan said, the clerk should have opened fire as soon as he drew his gun. No waiting for the criminals to get out of the door.

The clerk may have shot at the guy with the black hood once he pulled the gun. Since it occurs off screen, we don't know.

Look in the bottom right corner of the screen. At the :08 and :30 second marks there appears to be muzzle flash that corresponds to the general angle of the clerks gun once it comes into the frame.
