For those who have never seen how fast a big bear can run. Somewhat graphic at the end.

When I went to Africa last year, seeing lions in the wild up close made me rethink my gun choice. Think I need a bigger gun.

My math skills are getting weaker by the day, but 100 yds in 3 sec works out to about 68 mph (?)--cheetah speed, disregarding time lost due to acceleration. Regardless, lion (or cougar) speed beats me on my fastest day! It's what makes their ambushes so effective.

I apologize for the overstatement, They can only run 50 mph or about 4 seconds to cover 100 yds.

    I'm chuckling to myself here.
Isn't it funny how danger necessitates a bigger gun?

    Cool

I read an article on hunting lepords in Africa and the backup gun of choice was a pump 12 guage with 00 buck. I think I would feel a bit more comfortable with that then a pistol trying to stop a large charging cat. Difficult to jog with though you could carry port arms.

Were such a situation likely, I think that the discomfort would be comforting.

That's better. Now I've got a better chance to get away! Going out to book that safari today.
