Came close to going hands on, condition orange
So yesterday I was photographing two beautiful ladies at the local park. They were dressed like Disney princesses, and doing it well they could have worked at
Disneyland. Needless to say this drew a lot of attention from kids and other people in the park.
We had moved away from the most popular areas in order to have a little privacy and use some specific scenery when we were approached by a (presumably) homeless guy who was (very) drunk and possibly high on something.
Immediatly I went to cond orange. I had my Taurus PT145 IWB at 430 so I moved my slung camera as far left as possible and moved between the girls and the guy. He was spewing typical drunk guy nonsence, asking for money being generally a nuscence rather than a real threat.
He reached out and touched the wings on the girl dressed as Tinkerbell (she wasn't right behind me yet) at this point I somewhat forcefully placed myself into his way and asked him to leave. The girls backed off further and I stressed thet we didn't want to be rude but were trying to get some work done.
At this point he left, I kept my eye on him as he went and bothered another group of people who decided to call the police on him.
We left the area before seeing if the police arrived and what they did.
Only my assistant was aware I was carrying. He was suprised I didn't go to more of a defensive posture by uncovering the weapon or preparing to draw. I explained to him how this would have escalated the situation and was unnessisary.
I was pretty close however to grabbing the guy and forcing him to move along (especially when he tried to touch one of the girls). I'm really glad it didn't come to that.
