The front kicks against a knife as demonstrated at 1:18, can also be used to buy time to draw.
He says he worked for years as a bouncer. I believe he could do the job, but has wasted his talents for bouncer pay!
I love it, but how do I do it from a wheelchair ?
Big sign on wheelchair " Don't screw with me I carry ".
Good stuph! :image035:
Bas Rutten seems to be a good guy. He is very funny. I have some of his CDs, DVDs. I have used his stuff to help me with bag work.
I already know how to kick someone in the groin, which seems to be a basis of his fighting style.
He does seem to know his stuff pretty well though.
Looks like he knows a good bit of taijutsu as well
In the first few seconds I thought it was a Joke Vid but, it turned out to be worthwhile and worth the watching.
He definately knows how to hurt people. Although I'd never hire him to bounce for me. I bounced for three years at a college bar and never spilled a drop of blood.
Like the old saying: "When your only tool is hammer, everything looks pretty much like a nail"
He definately holds your attention with the Bong Bong Bong and other antics.
Looks like he does pretty well for himself with the tools he has.
If you watch thoughtfully, there is some interesting use of small circle and other jujitsu which adds technique to the otherwise very physical approach which is basically pound the other dude. The move he showed for removing a choke to your throat by stepping under and attacking the wrist is more subtle than just flailing away with kicks to the privates, and it is somewhat joyful when you pull it off in the gym (easily learned) and are standing there with the ability to bring the opponent to his knees with just a minor effortless turn of your own wrists, while at the same time the opponent is open to some kicks.
As physical as this all looks, there is a lot of really interesting stuff going on. I play with it 3 hours a week and believe me I'm way too old for reliance on sheer strength and agility.
I liked the part where he put his knee to the elbow while executing an arm bar. That would be a sure fight stopper if you don't lose your grip on the wrist.
