And were "the police" supposed to be IN THE ROOM babysitting these two jugheads before the incident? How does that work?

Speeders, drunk drivers, and other plain old idiots behind the wheel with more ego than driving ability (like guys in Honda Civics with them stupid loud exhausts who think they are on Fast & Furious) kill FAR more people every year than drunk jugheads in motel rooms do. It's nearly impossible for ANY third party to prevent a homicide when it is two knuckleheads fighting IN PRIVATE. Sheesh. Let the cop bash begin.

I guess the real reason I posted this local story is that it was close to some of the "what if's" that guys were asking on this forum. I guess the moral of the story is, unless the guy has a gun in his hand or you're carrying a bullet or knife wound, if you shoot someone don't automatically expect a slap on the back and someone to buy you a beer. If there is any doubt, you will be arrested and the State's Attorney will do his best to put you in prison. He is paid to convict and put people in jail, not to let folks walk free. How many of us can afford $20-$30-$50,000 for a defense attorney so that we don't sit in jail waiting to become someone's girlfriend.
