In a car depending on ferocity of the attack 230 grain hp's may be the answer. If I can go around or over them I will.
Outside the car I shield my wife and if I feel my life is in danger again 230 grain hp's may be the reply.
I am going to start carrying my 2 extra mags when going out of town to Dallas/Ft Worth though. We don't need any copycat crap here in Texas.

Although it seems that a lot of these flash mobs happen at night, which for obvious reasons is ideal for criminals that can escape in multiple directions into the darkness, the first time I heard about this type of assault was seeing video footage of some poor kid that had gotten off his shift at a casino in Las Vegas in the early afternoon. It can happen anytime. And although I know it is a favorite tactic of young punk kids, I would absolutely shoot at members of a mob attacking a defenseless individual. It's not my responsibility to rehabilitate these a-holes. If they want to victimize a innocent person, I will treat that as an assault on one of mine.

Quote from the movie " Next of Kin" concerning these mobs.

" You ain't seen bad yet, but it's a comin".
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Being out numbered, I would certainly understand that if my weapon was taken, I could easily loose my life...that's not going to happen easily. Pick the biggest mouth and permanently close it...when the ship sinks, the rats run for cover.

I agree retsupt99. Typically these people in mobs or gangs are cowards or they wouldn't be in a gang. People are brave in a group and will do things in a group that they wouldn't dream of doing if they were alone. This is why I said in another post that I don't like crowds and I try to avoid them if I can. Chances are if you drop the first one, the rest will probably run. Its possible they could rush you after you do that and if they do, I suppose there's not a lot you can do about that other than emptying your mag as fast as you can.

The best thing to do is to avoid the entire situation if you can but that's not always possible. Situational awareness is imperative. My g/f and I were sitting at a red light the other day when we heard something go bang. WIth it being so close to the 4th of July, it could've been a big firework but who knows? I didn't want to over react and rush the red light and risk getting into a collision so I told my g/f to look around and see if it looks like we're being shot at. She kinda looked at me and laughed like she thought I might've been kidding but I told her that I was serious. It's a messed up world out there. The truth of the matter is that some nut could shoot and kill you sitting at a redlight and you'd never know it because he killed you with a headshot. You never heard it coming.

is there a interchangeability between 'gang' and 'flash mob'

i have in the past seen where 4 or 6 in colors were leaning against cars on the avenue's taking their cues from the out-lookers
across the street to the left and right...planning a jacking or other crime of opportunity. in one case i watched in my mirrors as two separated and began walking between the stopped cars--looking in to each as they passed till they got to me, 1st in line signaling for to turn left. as he reached for my door handle he noticed the stainless 'item' cradled against my chest pointed where he was standing.
what a complete lack of theatrics--he looks at my gun, at me, raises his head and looking at his buddy-- shakes side to side with a Mona Lisa smile; nodded to me and kept walking.
nothing ventured, nothing gained. had he winked at me, it would have been in character.
light gave me green and i continued on my way...

I typically don't think of flash mob being the same as a gang so I apologize for getting off topic. In some ways, however, they are like gangs in that they depend on their numbers to illicit illegal activities. Not to be smart but at the end of the day do you really care if it was a gang or flash mob that either injured or killed you? At the end of the day your injured/dead regardless if it was a flash mob or gang.

I'm glad the traffic thing worked out for you. I bet you were sweating bullets...I'm pretty sure I would've been...

He raises a great point. If you wait too long you may be overwhelmed and have your gun taken from you and then who knows what the untermenschen plan to do with your gun.

I would handle a "flash mob" scenario with my special "flash mob" loads carried in a magazine just for such silliness.

The first 10 rounds are Dragons Breath. I doubt that anyone would stand around or advance on that. The thought of people around you running off on fire can be a buzz kill for onlookers.

But...if some adventurous hard souled crackheads continue to persist...the next magazine is double ought buck. The next mag after that are Breneke Saboted Slugs.
Getting attacked by a mob aint fair.

    I aint playin fair.

I'm no flash-mob expert, but it seems to me your position near the mob has much to do with your escape plan. I'd think the worst area would be near the epi-center of the mob formation. Running away could easily make you an instant target for the mob. Rather than running against the grain of the forming mob, I'd consider slipping inside the nearest open business (if there is one) and hold up in their back room and/or try getting out their back service door. I'd think it would be easy to get surrounded.

    Disappearance could be your friend.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

    I ain't playing fair.

if your in a fair fight your tactics suck.

following a drunk asleep at the wheel thinking my parked car was a target a 'flash' crowd formed; people from the sidewalk. they cleaned up his car of liquor bottles and took the joints out from his 'fro. one dude comes on to me with a few friends and i preempt him saying softly to him....'you & me speak , OK?' hes like *** and i ask nice again with a kinda exaggerated motion with my hand in my vest pocket.....
bottom line is --get the leaders attention and have him to understand that we are both gonna lose or both gonna walk away.
basic conversation with a dash of implied gun. it did not get the car fixed but it got me home for dinner and that makes it fine by me, thank you.

I think that liberal application of OC spray might be appropriate, esp. following the shining of a very bright light in their eyes....while leaving.
