Anyone have any information on carrying in Mexico?

We may be going on vacation to the Yucatan peninsula next year, and I was wondering what the laws were around being an armed tourist. I imagine it will not be a legal option.

You will not be able to legally carry a firearm in Mexico ... unless you are drug dealer of course.

It appears OC goes unchallenged if you are a cartel member. Do you really have to vacation in Mexico?

Even further, don't take so much as a round of ammo into Mexico. If they find it, you will be in a lot of trouble.

Mexico can be a very dangerous place for tourists.

There are groups of Americans in Mexico that will take up your cause and insist that receive all the rights of Mexican citizen and then some. They will teach you how to navigate and leverage the Mexican legal system to your advantage. You might even end up being able to vote while you're there!

Oh wait, hang on... I totally mixed up 'American' and 'Mexican' in that. Yeah, I wouldn't carry so much as a pair of fingernail clippers into Mexico.

I just wouldn't go! Mexico doesn't have anything that can not be found elsewhere.
Too dangerous, try an island instead.

I agree, Mexico can be a dangerous place. However, there are some beautiful things in Yucatan that you cannot find on an island; e.g. Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Dzibilchaltun, Mayapan, Tulum.
