I consider the Double Western to be lethal, at least to my waistline.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

And after he took out the dog, you would no longer be a K-9 officer.

    Career criminal? Don't know.
Guy having a really bad day? Don't know.
Guy having a melt down and wants to die? Don't know that either.

Just saying, there were definitely other options here and I'm not sure how the parking lot was setup but it seems to me there could have been some traffic going by catching loose bullets.

I'm not a cop and don't play one on TV, so for all I know this situation was handled textbook perfect.
I'm not a cop, either, but I used to train dogs. Here are some low-end prices:Trained Dogs for Sale, Young Adult German Shepherd for Sale, German Shepherd for sale, Working Dog for Sale, Protection Dog for Sale, and Schutzhund Dog for Sale.

I really don't think that guy would have stood a chance and the dog would have had him down in no time, that's what they are trained for and he was certainly ready and willing to do his part.

Not necessarily saying one way is right and the other way is wrong, but I do think there were options here.
When the subject moved towards the officer and began to raise the crowbar, he was an imminent deadly threat. The dog isn't going to end that immediately. Hence, the shooting.

I beg to differ - stupid was, in fact, fixed in that video. The subject will commit no further stupid acts.

Once you fail to follow an officer's orders to comply you loose all rights in my opinion and fully deserve whatever immediate justice they feel like throwing your way.

I don't fault the officers for their actions. There is a lot to that situation that can't be comprehended from a cell phone video, across a parking lot, behind a rain covered window, with snot-nosed teenager commentary.

With that said, I thought there was opportunity to "UNLEASH THE HOUND"!

That guy was not very smart, but the two morons who filmed and laughed after he was shot are even worse.

this is running somewhere else and the article says that its under question. why did they have to use deadly force? well the guy had a weapon but why did they have to shot him 10 times, comeone the first five at that range did the job and then the second cop plugs him when he is down again. that to me is exessive
