At night? cell phone on charger, one knife, one surefire, one handgun (usually a kahr pm9) with at least one mag + moccasins for the feet. Not too far away is a can of sabre, I keep it near the closet so the kid doesn't squirt mom in the morning by accident...

Handgun with tritium sights and laser, spare mag, assisted opening knife, hi-lumen flashlight with lanyard, eyeglasses, and cell phone with Go-Jo on charger - all in arm's reach. Slip-on shoes on floor next to bed.
Detailed floor plan of house with Cyalume and house key attached in nightstand drawer to throw out window for first responders.

Cell Phone
Surefire G2 light
Glock 19 with weaponlight
One spare mag for the 19
AR-15 with weaponlight and 2 coupled magazines
....and a German Shepard.

Never thought of it as a "kit" but on my nightstand within easy reach: Loaded and chambered .40 Sig PRO, my EDC knife, tactical flashlight and
cell phone. Black house coat and bedroom slippers are there as well.

My EDC in bed side safe and a flashlight in the night stand that has ultra bright white and a red bulb setting. I try not to use them if I have to investigate a noise, I use the ambient light with peripheral sight, scanning the room if at all possible.
One could also claim the strategically place Lego blocks as part of our home defense as well

I keep my shoes, and sweatpants by the bed so I can get dressed in case of a emergency and the gun I carried that day in the gun vault.

Nothing special here. I'm just coming out in a pair of tighty whities with a SureFire and a Glock 23C.
P.S. I wish that dancing Bananna had tighty whities on, would have been perfect.

My daughter already does that for me. My living room is like a mine field in the middle of the night.
