Man Fights Armed (Hoodie Wearing) Robber Over Moped and Wins
I know what I would have done and would have reacted to this. The video would be shorter. How about you in this situation? A moped? No. My Harley, yes.
Stupid or Brave? Astute or lucky to be alive? Yes; the Hoodie shot at him in this encounter.
Apologies that there is a commercial at the beginning of the video, but it is worth watching - and then read the fact that this man (the honkey) had a handgun, but chose not to use it..............

"You see him reach several times to his back pocket, but he just couldn't do it," Eyster said. "He couldn't make himself shoot a teenager."
Then he should have just got out of the robbers way.
Once the man ran off, Gramza pulled the gun out and shot in his direction to scare him off and prevent him from coming back, Eyster said.
Gramza is lucky that he wasn't charged with some kind of neglect or endangerment.

This is actually amazing to watch the repeated DECISION of the good guy to protect the moped. I say decision because I think it's crazy that after looking down the barrel of that gun for such a long time that he didn't retreat and keep himself and his friend safe OR use the weapon he had in his back pocket. Also I agree with the above comment that he made a further bad decision by firing AFTER the bad guy had fled with nothing in hand. Glad it ended with the good guys not getting any further hurt than whatever happened to the guys leg.
And you know I could have me a million more friends, and all I'd have to lose is my point of view. -- John Prine (A Good Time)

Too bad the dirtbag couldn't have been dropped right where he stood.
Society has no place for this type of sociopathic trash that continues to prey on honest hardworking citizens.

I'd call the owner gutsy. Gutsy AND stupid. Was he willing to die over a moped?
I watched him repeatedly circle and try to chase off the guy with the gun--he even got whacked on the head with the gun once---the guy with the gun could have decided to simply say: "Stop it you old fool!" and shoot him dead, he is lucky the guy only shot at his leg

Victim is lucky to be alive. He also had plenty of chances to drop this BG, he should have used one of them.

I agree. Stupid move. I don't care if it was my favorite moped and I worked a second job for four years to buy it. It's not worth dying over.

The guy without the shirt was a complete and utter idiot! Gutsy..I don't think so...stupid is the more correct term. He has a weapon and doesn't present it...perhaps the wisest thing he did considering he had a weapon pointed at him and the BG would have probably pulled the trigger sooner than the did. Perhaps the GG should have retreated for cover, which was available, drawn his weapon to ready, and called 911. It was obvious the BG wasn't intelligent enough to start the scooter. The GG could have probably had lunch and a smoke, while waiting for the responding officers and watching the confusion of the BG. Would I have presented my weapon...ONLY, if after seeking cover, the BG had pointed his weapon at me AGAIN, would I have practiced my "sight picture" and squeezed off a round or two or three to COM. I reckon at that point I would have been justified. Just sayin.........
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

I agree w/ 1SG....this guy was an utter idiot for this. There was 3 other men he (shirtless dude) was near that could of called 911. It wasn't even his Moped, it was a friend of his.
@ OP - what is the purpose behind using racial slang (the honkey) there? Pretty sure if someone else posted this thread and said something like "A man in a hoodie (the n*****) held gun to shirtless man in attempt to steal moped" would probably have an entirely connotation and reading experience. Please keep the racial stuff off of here.
"Sir, could you please not bleed so much? I have to clean the store after they haul you off and I'd like the rest of my shift, to be, like, you know, better."

i've seen stupid before...though usually its just on behalf of one of the participiants...
seldom both.
-----was it Pulp Fiction the line---"its a gun stupid, you shoot people with it; you don't push it through them"
when the gun guy is making the other man go up the stairs.
the BG here is hitting the moron, errr.....shirtless guy, with the gun like a hammer. sheesh
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.

Here is an example of a man who just really hasn't completely thought through what it means to carry a gun. He just hasn't quite come to terms with it.
And I would say, deep down inside... if people were honest with themselves... it would be a common trait for a lot of the ccw population.
A lot of people haven't really sat down and done that "inner soul searching" which is necessary before they decide to carry.

The question is if the punk has a gun and the old man has one too then why did the old man wait for the punk to start leaving before he shot back?
Either gives up the moped or fight back but don't wait for the threat to be leaving before you do something
