This guy was in four gunfights, sent five to the great hood down below, one to the hospital.

I like Lance Thomas's attitude. "Refuse to be a victim."

But, if you think he's not, you need to be realistic.

His defense of his life, and the lives of his co-workers cost him. Dearly.

The last hold up was by some gangbangers. Since Lance prevailed, the gang put out a contract on him. And he was told if they didn't get him, they'd get his customers.

He had to close shop and do his business by appt only working from home.

    He is a recluse.

The toll (long term ) of defending yourself can be quite high.

    That is something to consider.

In his place, would I have done the same? Without a doubt, yes I would have. But one has to be mindful of ALL the consequences.
    It could be worse.

Not a lot of consideration for me. I'd rather be alive and dealing with the aftermath than taking the long dirt nap.

    i've a boring life....
all the evnts that i managed to avoid; the discussions that i managed to deesculate; the few times i let some people see what i had on my hip ( but not what was in my pocket with my hand grasping it) and those time that low ready sufficed--and the few times when the gun had to go above low ready.
yet it always went home with me at the end of the day unshot.

so, no videos or even recordings; mostly they were not available back than
just a strong belief in awearness, martial arts of a sort and psychology.
often times its how you say the point your trying to get across
that gets the job done cleaner
Be aware, be deliberate in your actions and be accurate.

That jewelry store scenario was chilling... I don't work that sort of job, but the fact they went through that much ammo makes me want more than my 6 +1!

From the lead and diamonds article...

The exact count of the gunshots fired is unclear, but it is well over thirty.

    From the Lance Thomas article...

In assessing the aftermath, the Rolex specialist analyzes what he has learned with the same precision he applies to the repair and adjustment of fine watches. It is not lost on him that he has expended 60 percent of his ammunition to neutralize 50 percent of his antagonists. It occurs to him that a single five-shot revolver might not be enough if there's a next time, and that there won't be much opportunity to reload

To all the .380, & five shot revolver crowd.....
Something to ponder in the above two sentences. What if you just happened to be in a store, any store, when two, 3 or maybe more chumps come tripping through the door?
Owner perhaps engages the perps, but runs out of ammo/guns, guess who is going to die, if you don't either make yourself invisible fast, or engage said perps yourself.
These guys were NOT the panty-waist run at the first sign of resistance punks.
These guys were full of death and determination.
Reloads, more usefull than playing dead.
    Conclusion........IMHO...

Carry as much gun as you can shoot, and have a mag or two handy.
Can it usually be a cumbersome pain?
Yes, could it save your life?

As a result of his analysis, he kept both revolvers and pistols in strategic locations ~3' apart along the length of his sales counter. My guess would be 5 or 6 in total... I just can't carry that much.

I think he was saying carry a semi with a spare mag. A glock 19 with a spare mag = 31 rounds. I can almost always carry a compact with a spare mag with no problem.

    ^^^^^This^^^^^^^ is what

I was implying in my post.

    I am not telling anyone how/what/where/how many/how big/how long.

I am just throwing it out there that a lot of people think, "oh I'm just going to the beer store for beer & ice".

Meanwhile you got two thugs armed to the teeth strolling in right behind you and your .380, no reload or .5 shot .38 revolver.

As has been stated here before, my shadow's nickname is Murphy, and no matter what, he often pops up and makes life either interesting, or downright dangerous for me.
I try not to gamble, don't even like casino's.
