Waiting for the right opportunity
I watched this video undercover cop shoots robber that tries to mug him - YouTube and supposedly the guy on the left is being robbed by the guy on the right. At about 1:45 in the video, the left-guy realizes the right-guy is not paying attention and seizes the opportunity to draw and fire.
Without commenting on whether this is a foiled robbery or not, I see the take-away lesson from this video that it's important to keep thinking and wait for the right opportunity. Suppose you're approached at an ATM by someone with a gun and told to withdraw money. Obviously, your life is in danger and each situation has an infinite ways it can play out. Do you comply and hand over your money? Do you try to end the situation immediately by drawing and firing? Do you wait for an opportunity when the BG is not paying attention?
In the video, the shooter definitely took his time until he drew and fired. I'd be interested to hear from people who have had similar situations where the scenario played out for a while. I'd also like to hear your opinions on the video's scenario and things you agree with or might have done differently.
