yeah I'm sure it was a surprising feeling, but then quickly turned into a good feeling that there was another firearm putting lead at and into the dirtbag
I was searching for the news video that I saw last night and hadn't found it when I went to post the thread,
but here is an updated video from Abilene news station
UPDATED: Names of victims released, Three dead in Early shooting, 'Good Samaritan' praised | News - Home
just a guess based on the video showing where the officer's vehicle was in relation to the dirtbag, looks like it was 165 feet, not yards, still GREAT shooting from 55 yards away
(dirtbag was ahead and slightly to the passenger side of the Charger in the video, the guy assisting was further off to the driver's side of the Charger with good flanking position to the dirtbag)
Ya know, when you hear '.357 magnum', we all tend to think 'revolver'. But I wonder if he was shooting a good ol' lever-action rifle?
Suddenly that distance starts to become a little more feasible - but still a heck of a shot!
I love the way that guy talks. He reminds me of one of my uncles when I was a kid.
165 yards in a trailer park ? Unless it was scoped and he used it for deer hunting sounds like its more like 165 feet which sounds much more doable and realistic. At 165 yards you wouldn't be able to tell who is the BG or LEO,the guy in plain clothes could be a UC LEO
Yeah, I'm thinking 165 feet. I went outside and looked at 165 yards. I know it is a doable shot but is it a shot you want to take without knowingg what is behind the BG (decent chance of a miss at that range with a handgun), or even being 100 percent sure who is the good guys and bad guys. Not questioning him but just bringing out some points that at that distance (165 yards, not 165 ft) it is difficult to determine all of the factors.
They could have used him in the North Hollywood shootout. That's a good man. Well done! :congrats:
yeah, look at the 2 video links in my post above #17, it has to be 165ft, I saw initial report on tv and numerous ones online stating 165yds but its not even 100 yards across that RV park
I just looked at it using google maps, 7120 hwy 183 early, tx
not detracting from the situation....great shooting
Yes very good shooting beings that some miss at 5 ft. Bravo!
A cylinder full was enough. Whodathunkit?
He really risked his own life, not only from the shooter, but from the officer(s) responding, they could have easily thought he had some relation to the shooter if they saw his gun, a lot of times officers don't really know what's going on when they arrive on scene. Very honorable.
Here in TEXAS, it's not smart to fool around with our dogs or LEO's.
