I'd go with this. Maybe also take a trigger lock over and attach it to the gun for an extra layer of security.

I really don't know if it is the same individual posters or not, but I find it very interesting that in one thread I read post after post about people who are willing to step in and use deadly force if needed to protect a complete 3rd party stranger if they were in danger...and now in this thread most people are unwilling to help a neighbor who they are friends with unload a gun because they are afraid of the consequences.
