1. Our Shepherds live indoors with us, seasonal shedding never happens and the small amount they do shed is very tolerable
2. The heat isn't that bad for them because again, they stay inside (keeping a dog in your back yard does little to protect your family/stuff).
3. Dobe's are great dogs, but much more independent than a Shepherd.
In other words, they can chill by themselves and be perfectly fine, a Shepherd "needs" his owners/family. This is what draws me to the breed. I have trained Schutzhund dogs in years past not only for myself but others as well. From Malinois to Dobe's to Rotty's to Shepherds, I've seen them all. All good dogs, but the Shepherd is the best for family. The Malinois is the best for killing people. They are like Shepherd a strung out on crack!
