It is better to die with a weapon in hand than to live with hands raised. (Meir Feinstein, 1947) ...But is far better to raise your hands with a weapon in them and assume a classic Weaver or Isosceles (BenGoodLuck, 2007)

That's awful, must not have been a regular robbery or if it was he fought back.
From the article: "Sullivan said the suspect was subdued by other occupants at the house."
It's sad that an innocent man died. I was happy to read that the other people in the house had the courage to stop the suspect from doing any further harm to anyone else there.

So sad. Really interested to see some details as they emerge.

Alright, even if I'm asleep it is within arms reach too.

Methinks he just meant "robbery" as opposed to a home invasion for some other nefarious reason. To me it sounds like people who, when speaking, always use the word "basically" in front of many of their statements; the word has no meaning in their comment.
As far as the thread is concerned, I assume this was at night and further convinces me that when I lock my bedroom door and put a door stopper under it I am being extremely prudent and in charge of that room. You break into my home and are rummaging around to steal stuff in all the other rooms, have at it--I will not confront----stuff is insured and replaceable---I am not. You come into my bedroom, however, you will not leave the way you came in. I should note that there are no other people/kids in house--just wife and I.
My guess is there is more to this than meets the eye. Too bad the guy got killed.
