1 in the pipe all the time for me when outside of my residence. It only takes a split second to change something. That split second recking the slide could = me on the ground. only time i do not have 1 in the pipe is when i am at home. i feel pretty secured in my place. if someone were to break in or tried too, i would have plenty of time to put 1 in the chamber and grab other guns..

Round always chambered. Why be "half' ready?

I dont carry chambered but not for any "safety" reason, I carry empty because the noise of sliding a round is a weapon in itself.

Can you please cite your data which supports your claim that the noise generated from racking a slide is an effective weapon?

    Rooster Cogburn: I did.

Rooster Cogburn: Well, if it ain't loaded and cocked it don't shoot.

Never bring a slide rack to a gun fight.

If I'm being confronted by an attacker, they will see a weapon. It's their problem if they choose to believe it's not loaded.

If my home is being invaded, I'm already in my safe room and loudly informing them I'm armed and called 911. No drama rackage required.

Those are the main scenarios I train for.

The thing about "defense" is that it has practically nothing to do with guns. (As passed on by CCW9MM)

Only in the movies is it guaranteed that the BG will be intimidated by the sound of a slide racking or a hammer being cocked.

Are you willing to bet your life on the hopes that the BG will be intimidated by a sound or hope that you have the time to rack the slide?
