Not always ..... but my daughter and about everyone else has told me, that I have " a look" that I have and my "voice" is such, that everyone wants to run the other way. I can't change my voice. She always kids my S-I-L ..... if it's crowded at the store to take me along, and everyone will just see him (me) and clear a path.
I've seen people start to walk in front of me, and then back up quickly and say ... " I don't think I want to get in his way".
Who knows.

Please post a picture of yourself.....I'd like to see if you look more menacing then me.......when I took my first pic for my CCL....the photographer lady's remark after she snapped me was ........Oh, that's mean looking, Oops.
Nah that sounds like a whole thing, and I am feeling pretty lazy. Besides I do not think it has anything to do with how I actually look. I am normally clean cut and fresh shaven, and have a smaller athletic build (aside from my 6'3" arm span). When I wear my uniform I look very professional and well kept.
Rather I think it is how I hold my self. Very confident, head on a swivel, direct and upbeat walk.
If your looks don't stand out, people won't notice you.
If you look like a BG, and have to draw your weapon, and LEO shows up, the outcome might not be so good.

Wife says "you look like a cop", I say " I am a cop".
I see it a lot, smaller guys try to act tough to intimidate people.
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

I get this a lot. People cross the street to get away from me, women clutch their purses with white knuckles, the birds quit singing, etc. Probably just a mixture of how I carry myself, my size, and tattoos. I look like I just came home and I ain't talkin about from the sandbox.

I'm all for not looking like an easy target. I've been told I don't, in some respects, but that I do in others. Haven't recently polled the opinions of various criminal types I've randomly passed on the streets, so I'm uncertain of the current consensus opinion among them. Though, I've been free of assaults the past few years; perhaps whatever it is has been working. Hard to say, with any certainty. About all that can be said is: looking like an easy target is not for me.
Nicely, I haven't had many ever cross streets or reverse direction to keep their distance. Either it's an indication I'm treading a fine line or that my deodorant choice isn't a bad one. Glad it's working, whatever the factors. The alternative could really stink.
