Makes you wonder why they couldn't take 10 or 15 teachers through the same simulations with their own weapons. Give them a few months training first, then put them through these simulations with the police.
Training involving the "victims," staff, with police/sheriff on responses; training of faculty/staff on being armed on campus; beefing up the facilities (hard to get in; very hard to move easily (unattended/unescorted) from one high-value area to another; beefing up / simplifying the procedures; etc.
I like the idea. Of course I can see many school officials, and maybe even law enforcement, being afraid that this type of drill may be too "traumatizing" to the students. The way I see it, this would be much less traumatizing than being involved in an actual school shooting and not being prepared for it.
Great idea! My wife is a teacher and having these sort of training exercises would make me feel better. My wife's principal is a veteran and a school security expert. He's made it known (without actually saying it) that if something ever went down at their school, that he's packing, and probably packing pretty heavy!
