What about a warning sign. Something like "We support out second amendment rights" posted on out home doors?

Kind of like "we have guns you can steal if we're not home"?

I only have the security sign and motion detector lights, backed up with 8 cameras.

Getting old does have some advantages, we live in a gated retirement community with a guard 24 hrs at the gate. Anytime we leave the raisen ranch we are armed. I was surprised how many seniors here carry. There was a support your second amendment rally at our clubhouse opened to the public must have been couple of hundred people there

Signs like that are in the same genre as "racking the slide on a shotgun scares they bad guys so much they'll run".

Any posturing by a homeowner to overtly deter criminals will be taken as a challenge by some.

How about a sign that says, "The locks on my doors are for YOUR protection, NOT mine!"

My neighbor has a sign that's something like that and I can't see it doing any good and would most probably not serve him well if he ever does have to defend himself or his home. A case could be made that he was baiting. It also could advertise that he has guns in his home.

I found a sign like that in the alley behind our home and I attached it to our fence. I figure it can't hurt!

    IMO ...

To criminals enticed by knowing contents of a home, it'll likely increase the risk of their coming to visit.

To criminals unaffected by such signs who would still come to visit anyway, now they'll be forewarned and prepared for extreme violence, possibly even to the point of blasting first and asking questions later.

To criminals dissuaded by the implied threat of entry, it'll likely decrease the risk of their coming to visit.

The only trouble is, you'll never know whether the overall risk is increased or decreased ... except through experience after posting such signs.

I'm with Mr. dukalmighty....If you've done the normal things like motion sensor lights, security cam, window/door alarms..then why worry about posturing with signs. If the BG ignores all the attention that he gets from bright light, having his picture taken, and screeching alarms, then what makes you think signs are going to make a difference. Lock and load and wait for entry is your best bet...JMO

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

I have an alarm and a sign form the company out front. My wife thought an alarm would be instead of guns. No chance. The alarm to me is just to disorient the BG and give me a head start as I will know which entry "it" came through.
