An article in today's sports sections reports on the stabbing of Pittsburgh Steeler offensive tackle Michael Adams in the city's South Side district. He is fortunate that all he received were two stab wounds that were not fatal. One of the three BGs also had a firearm. The real point is that it was 3AM in the morning as he stood by his truck, which more than likely based on NFL salaries, was not a beat-up old Pathfinder from 1999. Situational Awareness Mr. Adams--learn it, embrace it, and use it. I'm sorry but when you are standing around alone at 3AM in what I assume is not the hoi-poloi fancy area of Pittsburgh, you are begging for a problem.

Being smart is not a NFL requirement.
Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around laws. Plato
But....But...I'm a big dude no one is gonna mess with me!
Here's a snippet from Adams' agent, Metz:
Metz said he was told three men approached Adams as he was sitting on the back of his truck. One had a gun and another had a knife, Metz said.
"I asked him, 'Why didn't you just let them take the truck?'" Metz said. "He told me, 'I didn't really have a plan. It happened so quickly.' It's hard to know what to do when something like this never happened to you before."
Metz said team security told him there were witnesses and one of the men dropped a cellphone at the scene.
"What kind of Pittsburgh people stab a Steeler?" said Metz, a Pittsburgh native based in Arizona. "What is wrong with these people?"
To Messrs. Metz and Adams, the same people that would stab a child, shoot a father, and rape a mother, and they walk among us every day.

1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Ignoring the "three stupids" guideline can easily result in meeting three of them. 3am alone by one's (supposedly) ritzy-looking ride in Pittsburgh's nether regions doesn't seem all that smart, if one is looking to avoid trouble. Bicep size ain't gonna get the average person out of that pickle. It is what it is.
It's likely a 'deal' gone bad.
I'm remembering a line from a famous post online called "street robberies and you". The LEO who wrote it reported a short story : After arresting what he termed a "hold up man" he asked the guy if he would be willing to rob "this officer over here" pointing to an officer who was described as a "line backer sized" guy.
The criminal said: " if I needed the money"

Man, what is it with the NFL and its knife culture?
Glad he's OK.
