Here is what I think - while the story sounds cool and Hollywood-like, the fact is, they both are lucky. This clerk makes a tactical mistake and fortunately, he did not pay for it. He stated... “If I had seen the actual barrel of the gun, I would have pulled the trigger. My life wasn’t threatened.”
If you wait to see the barrel, it’s too late. As soon as he saw him drawing that weapon, he should have engaged the hostile.
