Attacked by Three Coyotes- Would you fire your weapon?

Another interesting recent event from Colorado, occurring near from my parent's new house...

    *******************************************

A man from Boulder County is recovering from what state wildlife workers say was a very rare coyote attack. Andrew Dickhage was walking to a bus stop early Monday morning in Niwot when he was attacked. He didn't see it coming. It was too dark, but he said he sensed the animals nearby.

Given the seriousness of what was going on, I would have definitely used my CC weapon to stop this attack. The risks from injury or disease are too great. Two-legged threats are NOT your only concern...

    Darned right I would.

Of course, die-hard anti-gunners would likely prefer I await my mauling and likely death by being eaten (while alive). They might be trying to get us all killed. We, OTOH, are not.

Would I fire my weapon? Hell yeah, although it doesn't seem like there would have been time to draw it the way the story reads.

I would even fire at a coyote just because he had a package that said "ACME" on the side...

I might have got eaten, but they'd find spent brass all over the place...

I think the better question would be.... would you have time to fire your weapon?

Things gun forums have taught me:
-Some people shoot guns other "run" them.
-I don't dislike Glocks but often dislike Glock owners.
-Open carry is to a handgun as bluetooth is to a cell phone!
-Simple math can deliver posts per day... some gun forum members need to get out more!!!

Yea I would not hesitate firing my CCW. This guy is fortunate there was not a larger pack of them to deal with. This is rare and I hear a lot that a coyote will never bother a human but I guess this proves it is not true.

I don't know how many people on this forum have ever heard coyotes howling but I can assure that more than likely it will make your hair stand on end and send chills up your spine especially when you hear it as you are getting out of a tree stand just as legal shooting time for deer ends. It is not a good feeling at all especially if they are close.

Yeah, one offered to baby-sit my kid once. There was just something in his eyes that I didn't trust.
