    Bouncer takes out bar shooter

This is in the city I work in. The bar isn't known for being dangerous. Word is that the shooter was bounced for fighting or arguing and returned with a weapon. WV doesn't allow carrying in bars as far as I know, so I'm wondering if this bouncer was either in violation or maybe outside manning the door? He saved some lives either way.

Not that reporters always get it right, but in the middle of the story this addresses your question:

Police said the bouncer had not been drinking. They also said he legally carried his gun.

Officials from the Alcohol Beverage Control Administration said they have no codes prohibiting it.

Another GUNS SAVE LIVES story that the Washington Times should report - don't hold your breath on that.

Very justifiable use of a gun. Good story. Good for our cause.

Isn't it illegal to consume alcohol and carry a gun (outside of your home) about everywhere? Seems the now dead guy was the only one acting illegally - all the way around.

@ ShooterGranny - in almost all states, however, in NV, it use to be a .1 BAC but has been lowered to a .8 BAC with the current laws. So, you can gamble, drink (minimally), and carry in NV! Almost all gambling establishments do not post no carry signs on all doors, so the worse you get, if you are very polite, is asked to leave (the law allows them to call the police and carge you with tresspassing if you refuse).

I'm sure if this is poor information, Gary S. will swoop down and deposit a correction......................................

We call that turd of a paper the Wa Poo-Poo................ just saying. Yes, I agree. Though the Times can somewhat run the middle (e.g. Emelie Miller).

Thank you for the information. I personally feel that people should not drink and carry - period. Now folks, please don't get on me about being anti 2nd amendment. That is my strong feeling - nothing to do with what laws I think we "need".

Last night we went out to dinner with a group. I knew I was going to have a beer but didn't feel unprotected because Gramps was carrying and he doesn't drink alcohol. It's like a designated driver. -- And yes, I had one mug instead of the 2 I've had other times. This was a new brew for our local restaurant: Brooklyn Brown Ale. Either I'm actually older than I think or it was a bit higher alcohol content than the average because I was definitely at my limit last night. Too bad - it was really good ale!!!!

Thanks. They must have updated the article since I read it yesterday. Glad to hear the good guys come out on top. Last time I read it it said they were determining whether any charges would be handed out. I presumed it was related to the bouncer and/or the establishment.

I agree that they SHOULDN'T, but I don't believe it should be outlawed. I believe everyone should exercise personal responsibility/accountability over their own weapon, and if they aren't able to do so there will be others around them to quickly react with their own weapon. That would be a perfect world for me.
