    "A first rate man with a third rate gun is far better than the other way around". The gun is a tool, you are the craftsman that makes it work. There are those who say "if I had to do it, I could" yet they never go out and train to do it. Don't let stupid be your mindset. Harryball 2013

    Yup, the guy pushed his luck and got what he was asking for.

    He did a great job:
    1. He had to finally be firm and commanding with the woman on scene;

    2. He then switched to a calm, reasonable approach (hey its just an accident--its no big deal) when dealing with the subject;

    3. he pied the corner well--good tactics;

    4. he then went into command mode--clear, concise, easy to follow commands;

    5. he backed up as much as he could--giving the subject an additional chance.

    6. He COULD have backed up outside, but then the complication of the woman was there--would he then have a hostage situation, would the subject attempt to stab the woman?--so he made the best tactical decision he could have--shoot.

    The LEO acted professionally and appropriately to an unfortunate situation.

    The kid definitely forced the officer's hand. The officer gave him every chance to drop the knife.

    I can't believe the woman said please tell me you did not shoot him.

    Thanks for posting the public link, HB.

    He handled that really well. THIS is why I give LEO's so much respect and latitude.

    For me, a bad day is when the books don't balance, or workers don't show up.
