Always good to know what to do after a shooting before a shooting.

That is a good article. I especially like this that I pasted below. How is it when things like this are staring the antis in the face that stricter gun control does not help they still scream for more.

Calls like this happen far too often. However it is an unfortunate but true fact that many of our police departments and our 911 dispatchers will receive calls like this on a regular basis. Actually, almost on a daily basis for some departments. Geographically speaking, large cities, especially cities that tend to restrict certain gun ownership rights seem to be the worst. Like Chicago.

One thing I would advise--can't remember where I heard or came across this--begin the call by stating your location first. E911/locator systems may not be accurate, there may not be a record of that area, there may be a glitch, etc. If your call is cut off suddenly, that way they know that something is happening or has happened there and can dispatch someone to check.

Aside from that, I advise rehearsing the phone call the same way you 'what-if' things from time to time. Go over it in your head, maybe even out loud, and run through the full process of reporting from start to finish. More likely to get it right that way when you have to do it for real.
