Boy's Best Friend and Lessons from Nature

Don't want to make this pedagogical (reading too much into it)
Cat heroically goes straight to immediate threat, spins to make sure that there aren't multiple pack attackers, then eliminates the threat to his family and home, then returns to render aide.
Americans understood the right of self-preservation as permitting a citizen to repel force by force
when the intervention of society... may be too late to prevent an injury.

Fluffy earns an extra scoop of kibble and an extra hour of scratchin' under the chin, I'd say.

No pets, but I've always been fond of cats.

This wins as best cat video on the internet, and there's a lot!

I can just hear the dog talking to his home boys "Man, who'd a believed they had a 500 lb mountain lion guarding the kid!!"

Unusual for a cat in my experience, but clearly one heck of a pet.

Someone needs to put the dog down - no excuse for seeking out a kid and attacking him.

RickD you and I agree on that no quarantine of other crap. Kill the dog and hope the owner objects.

Coming from a dog guy that doesn't care for cats, I'd like to buy that cat some sushi.

Think twice all you cat haters. That is one good cat (and one lousy dog).
I must admit I never saw a domestic cat that brave before. Defend itself yes, defend others, no.

Bluefin's at ~$70K/fish on the Tokyo market this year, down from ~$1.4M a year ago. Perhaps just a steak or two, then.

The life of one child... priceless. What's $35K for a side?

Okay, okay, I wouldn't spend that much... I'm not a cat guy anyway...

But that cat would want for NOTHING for the rest of it's days in my home.

My old dog growing up did this with a stray in the neighborhood once that came at my little sister. Little sister screams and I'm up and running but that old dog of ours had me beat by a mile and I didn't even know where he was when my little sister screamed but he was hauling and hit the stray at full speed. Never saw that stray again. Anyways back to this story, yeah that dog needs to be put down I'm sad to say and none of my cats would so much as look on me if I was on fire. Lazy bunch of moochers.

There's a small black & white cat that hangs out by my office. I once watched him roll down the hill outside my window, completely wrapped up in a snake as big around as my arm. By the time I got out there to try to rescue him, he had the back of the dead snake's neck in his mouth and was dragging it off. It was a water moccasin. I've seen him several times walking across the driveway with either a snake or rat in its mouth.

I don't know the cat's name. I just call him 'sir'.
