    Perv at Public Library

So you are at the public library (its late morning) with you two kids, some perv comes up to you and says your 3yr old girl "I want to put my finger in your mouth" and makes a move to do it (in the articles he actually accomplished it). What would you do?

I'd be sorely tempted to draw, but realistically if he is moving towards my kids I'm putting myself in his way.... his move

your thoughts? btw, this isn't necessarily academic, we frequent this library and the person in the news article is a friend of a friend. (real, not mytwitterbook#whatever)

It's gross and despicable, but hardly a threat that requires a response with deadly force.

Agreed. I think I would grab his finger and bend it in a way that is not natural. Touch me, that's one thing. Touch my kids / grandkids / wife / dogs, and I would do things I didn't think I could do. (Already proved that with the dog attack)

As referenced in the article, he is a dangerous individual and should never be allowed around children.

Breaking that finger & then decking the guy followed up by a swift 911 call would be a more appropriate response to him placing a finger in a child's mouth.

I was thinking that, but it also occured to me that (while the odds are likely low) lets say he has an open wound on that finger and he might have Hepatitis or some other disease.

I too am in the camp of him being unable to use that finger or maybe the whole hand again.

I would be tempted to show him something he had never seen before, the other end of that finger.

Same here but think I may have a problem stopping there. If it was my daughter I'm pretty sure someone would have to pull me off that dirt bag.

Yeah, the breaking every bone and tearing every ligament in the finger is a given.

Personally I can't imagine an event setting me off more than someone trying to physically molest one of my children. I would not draw, but this creep would get the beating of his life.

Judge: Why did you break and then cut off the man's finger!!??

Father: I was simply collecting evidence, Your Honor.

Judge: Well Done, lad! Another good reason to EDC a knife.

If some creep is doing or saying that to my kid ..........................................I'm going to break a foot off and I'll wear a cast for 6 to 8 weeks and he will be sitting on a donut ring for the rest of his life .

Yeah that sounds about right. ohhh i almost forgot call 912 just so it takes them a little longer to get there .

In a library? My first reaction is to get this pervert away from my child as quickly as possible, in doing so he will likely crash.....uhhh....errr...."fall" against a book shelf that will likely cause multiple heavy dictionaries to fall upon his head.

Seriously, I'd do my best to stay out of the wrong side of civil or criminal court. At the moment protect the child, cell phone video, license plate, witnesses, call the police.
