Yep, I've seen that; looks like home security just got more expensive. As I understand it, this is all over the internet, so just about everyone has access to the tools and method.

Common tools that can be had for less than $33 will open 95% of the gun safes that we own, in less than ten minutes.
No technical finesse needed, like in the lock bumping trade either.

Interesting! Could you expand on that?

Actually that trick has been around for years, along with a bunch of others. When I was in the military our rich mutual Uncle (Sam) sent me to a course on B&E, it was eye opening!
The sad thing is when these type of techniques get spread around like this one currently is.

Shooter : if your safe has a keypad most likely i can open it with a stun gun in under 3 seconds , if it has a barrell lock well then i can with a plastic pen in under a minute .

RNR,
I am aware of the barrel lock trick. My safes are the old fashoned dial combanation ones. No need to be specific, never know who's reading these posts but, how difficult are these locks to open without the key and combination? I watched a locksmith work for two hours on a safe that someone had attempted to open by beating the keypad off with a hammer. The locking mechanism had to be pretty much destroyed by the locksmith to get it open. Bet he would have liked to know about the tazer trick!

That is for keypads, if you have an old fashioned combo you have a dial, not as easy.

Actually, this method was part of my locksmith training I received from "The Locksmith Institute of America". Locks only keep honest people honest.

Old fashoned dials are problimatic , you must know the layout of the door then burn or dirll a key spot to access a component and pull a " keeper " then manipulate the mechanisim of the bolts themselves to unlock , other than that most likely you are better off loading the safe and takeing it to where you have time to piddle with it . This is assuming that a personal combo has been assigned since you bought it . If not , again its 30 sec's or so .
