Woman hospitalized after violent carjacking

A woman making a delivery in Newport News was beaten during a carjacking early Thursday.
Police said the 45-year-old woman was making a deliver to Reliable Transmission in the 9900 block of Jefferson Avenue around 1:00 a.m.
Carjacking location
A man got her truck keys, hit her with a blunt object and then stabbed her repeatedly before driving off in the 2004 black Nissan Frontier. Police said it has a black camper shell and has Virginia license plate number YGR-9462.
Police got a vague description of the carjacker - a thin-looking black man, about 6’1” tall and wearing a black “hoodie”.
If you can help police in their investigation, call Newport News Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Police spokesman Lou Thurston told WVEC.com the woman and her husband have a business that makes deliveries for several other businesses.

I can see her- getting out of the car with a cell phone on her ear, or looking in her purse, as she exited. Maybe not, but playing the odds....

What gets me in these cases is the order of events - 1) gets keys to car, 2) beats and stabs woman. People think if the goblin gets what s/he wants they will leave you alone. That is not true.

At that hour of the morning I would be in high alert. Just because It's quite and there is no one is around dosen't mean that it's safe. It seems like some people walk around with a bag over their head.

I can give a more complete description: he has a long record stating as a child. He has several previous conviction, and is out on bail or on parole or probation (or some combinaion of the three). Oh, and he uses illegal drugs.

Besides, questioning the hour of the delivery in correlation to the attack is the same as saying "Did you see what she was wearing? She was ASKING to get raped!"

You mean that if you give them everything they want they won’t just leave you alone? Are you saying the liberal anti gun crowd is lying to us? Mary Joe and I will never vote for another Kennedy again.

You are assuming in this instance the events are reported accurately. As many have noted on this forum initial reports are not always as complete or accurate as the actual facts in most cases.
From what I have seen, most news reports are mocked on this forum for lack of accuracy or some other misspeak, in the report. I guess time will tell with this one.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

That leap is not accurate or even logical.
As well many people have more than one job.
Who delivers auto parts to customers/shops at 1AM?! What shop is even open at 1AM to recieve the order?
I worked 9 yrs. in the auto trade including a year for a machinist and had ordered very many parts as well as oversaw shipping & receiving. Not once can I recall requesting, expecting, or recieving a parts delivery at that hour. It's not exactly a sensible time to transport nor recieve parts, regardless of what the delivery person might have been wearing.

Um.... I have gotten auto parts as late as 11:00 pm and as early as 3:00 am. There are 24 hour parts available in many places. Usually for truck shops.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.
