Shooting suicide at Bryan, TX bank
Happened this afternoon at the bank my mother works at. The guys started firing ten feet from my mom. I don't know what else too say, really... other than I'm grateful things turned out the way they did for the employees and customers in the bank at the time.

I'm surprised I hadn't heard about this. I've got friends in College Station, right next to Bryan.
Thank god he didn't decide to take anyone else with him.

Just saw that too. I was there just last weekend looking for a mother's day gift. Makes me glad I was armed.

Glad Mom's ok!
A few years back, in my local bank, estranged husband enters with shotgun. Wife, working at the bank, retreats. Husband follows, kills her on the spot. He flees only to be captured hours later in the woods after a stand-off with LE.
Now enjoying most of the rest of his life in the pen.

Geez.. Glad your mom is ok.

The real story behind this is truly tragic. The guy was a vet (vietnam too I think) on disability--and apparently not a lot of that. His disability was cut by $200 when he got a slight social security increase. Paper pushing screw up maybe, maybe just the rules, I don't know.
WHen he was young he had kids, didn't pay child support. The kids are in there 30s now. Along comes the State of Texas and takes $200 a month away for "child support" ontop of the $200 loss from reduced disability. Because of the unexpected income loss, checks bounce or something like that, and he incurs bank fees.
You can't get cash out of a stone, but the powers that be managed to get blood out of this stone. He snapped.
He left lots of notes behind making it clear that he intended to hurt no one, and making clear the hopelessness of his financial situation.
He shouldn't have done what he did, and he shouldn't have been hounded and put into poverty either. He deserved a better old age and a better ending.
