Check out www.streichers.com they usually have HSTs in stock...
I've usually got a few thousand total. More than enough probably, but I wish I had more.
This is a discussion on I've seen lots of threads started about "how much ammo do you have?" within the Carry & Defensive Scenarios forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I need to go shopping, I have 11 in my gun and 9 in my spare mag. That was my box of Speer gold dots ...
I need to go shopping, I have 11 in my gun and 9 in my spare mag. That was my box of Speer gold dots that I bought with the gun. Trying to get some Federal HST's but they're backordered everywhere. Guess I need to go shopping tomorow. I've been meaning to go get more ammo. Reminds me I need to get to the range as well.
I keep a minimum of 600 rounds per caliber. Some of it is 1200 round when it comes to 45/40/223.
If my house every catches on fire, I will not be able to allow any fire personnel inside for their own safety.
I usually keep a minimum of 1000 rounds. About 500 are 9mm FMJ and about 100 JHP, assorted #4 shot and double 00 buck with a few slugs just in case needed, and always a couple hundred 22 CCI mini mags.
I have 3 boxes of .40 HST's on the way. Will get more as soon as I know my gun likes eatin em. 500 rounds of 7.62X39, in the closet for the AK. And I'm about to order 1k case for the AK to keep in stock and never touch.
Ive got lots of ammo a mix of FMJ and HP.
I do alot of machine work on guns and I give the owner the option of paying me money or ammo. Lots of guys like the idea and pay with ammo which is fine by me.
I've got cases of stuff laying around. If it ever gets to TEOTAWKI, it'l lbe great to barter with.
I feel that, in a home invasion scenario, if I cannot convince the BGs to leave me alone with a full clip of OO buck shot then I am doomed. I currently have about 500 'target' rounds on hand. .40 cal S&W. and my wife carries a 380 with jhp. But these are backups if a horde of barbarians attack. Once again, if I can't stop it with a shotgun, may God have mercy on my soul.
That always the question..with no definate answer. How much is enough
If you got the job done with what you had...it was enough.
If you run dry and get killed, it wasnt.
Walmart had good price on Blazer brass, so I bought all 5 boxes they had. 250 rds of FMJ, and 150 rds of JHP already in the closet.
9.89 per 50 bx
I stock several thousand rounds of various kinds of ammunition for defense and practice.
And Jesus said, "If you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." (Luke 22:36)
I am a peaceful man. But I am not a pacifist.
i actualy try prepare for prolonged SHTF for when im home. its not uncommon for bloss mountain to become an island during the spring thaw. and its better to have and not need...
that said im not out on the back forty burying cache's and such. though i might go and expand the basement for a bigger reloading room and a 50M indoor pistol range(it gets pretty cold in the winter) maybe set it up to get a decent zero on my rifles too but nothing too fancy.

"Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result."
Every well-bred petty crook knows: the small concealable weapons always go to the far left of the place setting.
Most of my stock is FMJ - the JHP for SD is cycled through at the range during the first round of firing and then I use the FMJ stuff.
The most exhilarating thing in life is getting shot at with no results.
