Scenario - At the Mall Restroom
I remember reading a thread about people who had guns drop out their holsters, or people making them in the store. One of them was a guy who went into the bathroom at the mall and drop a "duece." His CC gun falls from its holster and slides into the next stall. The guy in the next stall promptly pulls up his pants and runs out the bathroom without even washing. LIKE OMAGAUD how unsanitary.
I got to thinking.
What would you do if you were the guy in the other stall? Your sitting there taking a number 2 and a gun clatters to the floor and skids to a stop next to your foot. I'd like to point out you have no idea who is in the next stall.
I came to a decision about what i perceived as the best solution which i'll share later. But i was really interested in what you guys/gals thought.
When in doubt just ask yourself. "What would MacGyver do?"
BTW if your the guy i stole the story from, i'd like to hear your thoughts.

Carrying a 1911 no holster is going to hold a pistol when the belt is unhooked. Because of this fact I have figured the best thing is to set it on the dispensor keeping my eyes on it the whole time so I don't do anything stupid.
Now, if some guy came in and dropped his pistol panicing isn't going to help. The best thing is to just finish up what I need to and vacate like normal. Because you don't know who it is, whether it's a cop or another law abiding citizen or crook.
I may tary just a bit out side the bathroom to figure out if friend or foe,

Pick it up, drop it in the toilet. Do not flush.

That makes a ton of sense

Don't you know that dropping a gun under the stall door is one of the "signals" of illicit gun salesmen?
Do not pick up the gun or drop your own gun as a reply.... BATF may be on the other side of the stall waiting to see what you'll do.

After I stopped laughing, depending on the manufacturer of the errant pistol, I would say either "I'm a Glock man, myself" or "I'm a Glock man, too".

If it were my gun I would groan loudly and say...
"Oh god that hurt - I'm never eating one of those again!"

I take my gun out first, drop the drawers, then put the gun in the drawers. Can't be seen by others, and still accessible to me. Mandatory to grab the gun before hiking them back up, so you can't leave it behind either.

recomend a better holster and depending on the model/caliber a better gun

How about sticking it in your cargo pocket. Or even your regular pocket?

+3 on putting gun in drawers. I have laid it on top of on of the toilet paper dispensers ot toilet tank if wide enough to be stable and still accessible. I have taken the under wear and stretched out over the gun and holster.
