Safes, locks, lights, but I'll be home anyway, everyone have a safe holiday

I'll be at home with my 7 kids and 13 grandchildren. Thankfully, when we do travel the neighbors will watch out for our home and possesions. We live on a dead end street and a BG would have to "run the gauntlet" so to speak to get out of here.

Not a security issue, but I always shut off the water before leaving. Some kids broke into my parent’s house when they were trying to sell it. They had already moved to the new house. The kids smashed a toilet and left. The water ran for about a week before anyone discovered it. Six figures worth of damages and about 4 months worth of renovations. The kids were caught. They had vandalized several other houses and killed a dog. They got off with a slap on the wrist.

Other than that, I set a few timers, close blinds and lock up. Next house will have an alarm system.
