Holiday Shopping at the Mall / Mall Shooting Scenario: What Would You Do?: MERGED

Variation on a Tom Clancy story and terrorism warning here.

You are enjoying nachos in the food court of your local mall on a Saturday morning, The mall has its typical holiday shopping crowd. Suddenly you hear gunfire from multiple locations inside the mall. Some of the sheeple break and run screaming for the exits, some hit the floor, and some just sit there with french fries sticking out of their mouths and look around totally clueless. A person suddenly comes running into the food court with a handgun in hand. There is no badge or other LEO identification visible.

Not enough info for me to make a decision. It could be an Officer or a good guy.

I can only make my usual statement - "Play it as you see it".

Any scenario will be unique and full of variables - no way to make a decision unless there - and even then no way to be sure the decision will be the right one.

Help myself to some "free" eggrolls when everyone runs away from the Wok n Roll

    Really not enough info

Pretend to join the "scared stupid" sheeple, hunker down, and watch. For all I know it's a cop or ccw holder. If the guy starts aiming at people, then I draw and fire.

I'm with ShadowAngel... I know that a lot of people would say that this is not enough information, but face it -- in a real situation this is about as much information as you're going to get when stuff like this happens.

    Cheers.

I'm with 'not enough information'. That is exactly the problem both here and in the real world. Just last year a plain clothes cop was shot by another cop near us. Things are not always as simple and clear cut as they seem.

Ok, our armed subject is now fifty feet to our front, using a trash can as concealment and engages someone we cant see to our right. We still have gunfire from multiple locations in the mall, including return fire at our subject.
Does this change anything for anyone now? ( Still no CHL badge visible )

well if theres fire going both ways, it could be two bad guys going at it, or one good and one bad. So far he's not shooting in my general direction, I would just get the heck out, to complicated and to risky of shot, unless anyone starts pointing in my direction.

If he's in the food court along with a bunch of scared, unmoving shee...people, but is taking the time to fire elsewhere at others it seems are engaging him instead of shooting at the people, I might assume at this point that he's undercover or a CCW. I would likely draw, keep my gun hidden, and continue to wait until it became obvious that he was either going to start shooting civilians, or it was badguys shooting at him. Then react appropriately.
