    What load for tigers???

Let's say that California allowed people to own and carry concealed and you are walking along minding your own business, when all of the sudden a tiger is coming at you!!! (I know the scenario couldn't happen in a million years, but bear with me...) What weapon would you like to be able to pull and defend yourself? I'd choose my 1911 Hi cap Springer with 13 rounds of .45 Federal Hydrashok.

That was in the Republic of San Francisco . They could of helped the injured (2) or the man who was killed however their are no weapons at the Zoo l beleive in case of emergency the tigers are scheduled for group therapy and given an Rx for Pot.

Well, according to the news if you can pump enough S&W .40 into it, that will solve the problem.

12 g. slug or an AR (larger than 5.56)...I'd never trust a handgun round to take care of a 400lb pissed off tiger.

I know this, there are few creatures on four legs short of a Grizzly bear, Cape Buffs and Elephants that I would feel my 10mm Delta Elite is not up to the task with. The normal carry mag is 135 grain Nosler JHP @ 1650 fps but the two back up mags are 200gr XTP HPs @ 1250+ fps. You are not going to get much deeper penetration with expansion out of a concealable automatic.

Well... If I'm walking along and (theoretically, of course) a tiger jumps me, whatever round is in the chamber is the round of choice.

But, given a chance to choose, I'm with the .500 SW. Handgun package, rifle performance, 6 rounds.

Ah, yes. That is what our little forum is about. If that is the rule, then the S&W .500 is out, too (I challenge ANYONE under eight feet tall to conceal THAT gun).

Maybe if I paint my 870 'invisible'?

    spear

Sasha Siemel made a living hunting Jaguars in Brazil. I have read of some of his exploits. Generally at the close ranges his encounters took place a gun would have been a poor choice. The animal would most likely carry on, even with a mortal wound, and kill you. With the spear (Zagya) he could inflict a mortal wound as it charged and then hold it in place until it died. I have to wonder how that would work with a tiger though...
