Had some kids try to follow me in the driveway tonight.

Had some kids try to follow me in the driveway tonight when I came home. When I was pulling onto our street from a side street, I noticed a car that apeared to be speeding and they had their headlights off. I had plenty of room so I pulled out ahead of them and thought nothing of it.

When I pulled into my driveway and parked my truck I noticed they had pulled into the entrance with their headlights square on me. Now I have about a 150' long driveway which seems to have given them some pause. I jumped out, strongside away from them and my hand on the gun. They were still lingering, and I quickly began to realize that we were not on even odds with me standing square in their headlights. So I reached into my truck, hit a switch, and gave them a little of this......

30,000 candlewatt lights sure do provide an unfair advantage real quick.

They turned off their headlights then, slowly backed out of my driveway, and left in a hurry.

    What do you folks think?
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

    Great job!
I've got some big lights like that in FRONT of my Jeep for off-road use, but some in the rear may be an idea...

My personal suggestion would be to get a plate & description (if possible) and phone the sheriff.
    Other than that - Perfect.

I bet it scared the crap out of them....I am sure they won't be following you home anytime soon.

As in the type that can't stand that you are doing the speed limit on a road and pull right up behind you and start flicking their brights on and off at you and being rather annoying instead of simply passing you on an otherwised deserted road?

Yea it works great. I have only had the occaision to do that once about 5 years ago in my Pa's truck which has the same setup. It discouraged the offender back to about a 1/2 mile.

Sounds like this worked out real good.

But for us that are not so prepared, what would have been a good way to handle it?

Speeding on those road conditions with the lights off, then turning the lights on when the hit your driveway...Ditto on the description and a call to the local LEO.

Likewise, condition orange for a few weeks around the house.

What do they always say about a person who is about to expire---they see a light. So what do you think those in the car were thinking

I would have waited a bit longer to hit the lights on...at least until they exited their car...just to be sure of their intentions. And I would have stayed in the truck. It makes for a hell of better weapon.

Nice use of high-output lighting though...
