Finally found a use for night sights!
Finding your pistol in the dark!
I am a Paramedic, and I ended up getting into a fight the other night at work (crazy person). And as I was flying across the parking lot, my pistol went flying also. I had to leave in a hurry as the cops came flying in (another story in itself), and I just could not locate my pistol. Well we came back about 10 minutes later, and a cop who was helping in the search found it under a car because he saw the sights.
I used to go both ways as to the usefulleness of night sights, but now I am a believer.

You need to get a better retention holster if you're weapon came out during running

I wasn't running, I was flying through the air, and the hard impact upon the asphalt made it come out of my VM II which was "tucked".
Never had a problem before.

Glad you found it and the psych didn't get hold of it. Please do tell us your gun/holster combo.

I have enough back problems, and this is definatly not helping.
It was a black/male about 6' 4" 280 lbs. I am 6' and 230 lbs, so I don't know how he was able to do it. But he hit me first, my partner second, and I was completly caught by surprise, as he looked only semi-concious. By the time I got back to him my gun was gone (Sig 220 Equinox-full size).
BTW, this was the second time I had to use my Surefire E2D. It is very, very effective in the facial area. Highly recommended.
Gotta get back to work, but will give some more details on my next day off.

Those night sights also stand out on a nightstand at 3 A.M., too...

I just coat my guns with glow in the dark liquid, LOL. Glad it turned out ok.

OK I misunderstood I thought you were evading not being flung, but still having a weapon fly out of you're holster, had the psycho got it coulda been real bad.

I put scotchlite strips on my black gat for the very same reason, after losing one in tall grass one night while running to a building alarm and tripping in a hole.

For a job like yours if I carried I would not roll without a retention holster.
You are in the same line of fire so to speak as a plain clothes/undercover police.

What happened to "scene safety, BSI"? Glad you're OK.

I worked both paramedic and LEO, simultaneously, back when I was young and skinny.
After flying through the air and discovering Terra Firma is a bit too firma for comfort, please tell me that you're uninjured, or relatively so?

I am just really sore, and didn't miss a day of work. Thanks for asking!

If they found out I carried at work, they would find a way to fire me, and getting another job would be tough after that, it being legal or not.
So finding a good retention holster that conceals well has been a long road, and the VM II has worked pretty good so far.
The last fight I was in, the pistol stayed in the holster. I guess it helped that his swing missed, and mine hit him squarely in the jaw.
