    Celtic,

It was my misunderstanding. I took it the wrong way, that you were advocating LEO to try to stand in front of the vehicle to stop it because of our duty to act and not to retreat. In NJ, I wouldn't want to be the test case like the Lozano case you mentioned.
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do. Eleanor Roosevelt

There are always potential civil and criminal consequences for our armed actions. You will probably be sued by a BG, or their familiy, if you used deadly force, because of the potential monetary gain for an injury lawyer. However, if it even looks like you were chasing the BG, or did anything that could be viewed as vigilantyism, the you are in trouble with the law. It doesn't matter if you save a life in the process. Never chase or run down a suspect. It works against you.

It's hard to hit someone in a car.

I would just get the kids out of the street and call 911.
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
