There are any number of individuals out on the street that would be MORE than capable of killing the common citizen with their hands if they chose to. I'm not a bad dude by any means but at 6' 240 and bench press 385 , I would be dangerous in a fist fight to most folks I run into in everyday life. Size and strength make up for a lot of things.

So just because someone is unarmed does not mean you are not in a lethal force situation necessarily. The issue is whether your level of fear is reasonable and you are in legitimate fear of grave bodily injury or death and whether you can articulate that or not.

Utterly false. Anyone who makes such a claim is ignorant of reality.

It does not take a H2H expert to do significant damage quickly via hands, elbows, feet and/or knees. And once knocked "out," a single fall to pavement or kick to the head can kill.

Edit: BTDT. Have successfully withstood a 3-on-one "light" attack, and a stiff one-on-one. Being completely ruthless about stopping an attack quickly, with the mindset and all, it can be frightening how quickly something can turn. In my cases (years ago), it did. On any given day, an unarmed person can fairly effectively rise to a completely different level. If you've never seen it or experienced it, you can simply have no idea.
