We're pretty country here. Depending on the day, gunshots could seem out of place, or the norm. Folks in the general area probably think nothing of me plinking in the back yard with the 22's, and I'm close enough to city limits, I'm sure the shots can be heard there. When I hear shots, it's usually from the range. I think I know the territory well enough to figure out if gun shots are out of the ordinary and require further investigation. Not many folks are close enough to us be a concern.

I don't know much about 'possums but for the life of me I can't figure out why people kill them. Are they dangerous? Do they carry diseases? Do they insult one's mother? C'mon here, give me the straight scoop!!

For me they are a huge nasty rodent and I don't want them anywhere near my property, kids, or pets.

It should be a good day when you start out learning something... even if it is about possums :)

Without reading any further than the your post, I have but one explanation for his actions, and sum it up in one word, REDSQUIRREL!! [Edited] little tree rats are only good for target practice N I shoot on sight.

+1 For not ratting on your neighbor for shooting vermin. :)
Keep a ramset handy to reattach that loose anchor, and whack one after you shoot.
What gunshot? it's just a ramset, $30. Home Depot.

I live in the boonies. Gun shots are normal here. I target practice in my backyard. My neighbor must have had some friends over last weekend. I heard loud gunshots for over an hour and it sounded like several different type guns and rifles. I am weary of checking out gunfire unless I know its on my property. You never know in what direction they are shooting when the beer and pot are passed around. I had one neighbor that decided to target practice from his house aiming towards my driveway once. I had to shoot my gun in the air a couple of times to get his attention in between shots and then yell at him for being such an idiot. Aiming a gun at my house was a stupid idea even if there are three acress of woods between us. Young kid in his early twenties showing off with a friend. I think his daddy took the gun away because I have not heard him shoot again.
