    Why Kansas instead of a highly populated urban city?

    Hmmm....

    Couple of issues. I agree - WMD's are not near as threatening when understood. While nuke's aren't good - a ground blast (because it will be real hard to get an ICBM in here) really won't have too far reaching affect - at least not near the lethal opportunity of 500 feet off the deck. Most likely the BG's will either be taken care of by the blast (they really like to blow thmselves up) or they will be long gone (like the chickens they really are).

    As for a group of BG's taking on mall's etc - well, a few good men determined to protect thier families, could take care of several of them BEFORE the law shows up.

    Now about a new administration starting WWIII - nope, they won't start - they might however be dragged in kicking and screaming. Because they might be viewed as weak and spineless.
    Trying to leave as large a carbon footprint as possible.

    As a native Kansan, and a Jayhawk, I'll try to explain, and offend a bunch of folks in the process:

    • Nobody else would care;
    • The Nebraska-Oklahoma football game wouldn't have an intervening state anymore;
    • The USA doesn't need protection from Missouri anymore;
    • Dorothy won't want to go home anymore;
    • And they'd just be finishing the job Quantrill started.

    Actually, it would be a real clear message something like this:

    It can happen anywhere; and you're not safe anywhere. Terror will not be visited only on military targets, economic targets, or densely populated areas, but any areas terrorists want, at any time.

    Kansas

    I more see mass population to be a better target for terrorist attacks. That is unless the terrorists have gotten unusually hungry for well cooked pheasent.
