How is carrying a pistol incompatible with feeling safe? For me, at least, it is a fundamental part of feeling safe.

Rotorblade I'm with you. I sleep with the doors open on hot sunmers nights key in the car 24/7. I do carry when I'm out and I have a gun on the nightstand.

But hey, you had your remote! If someone kicked the door in just hit the pause button!

To me it's kind of like taking my shoes off when I get home or sitting on my sofa on a Sunday morning in my boxers.....it's my condition "white " place. It's a very personal decision for each of us and I'm not trying to tell anyone how to live their lives, but to be reluctant to sit in your lazy boy and watch a movie without wearing a shoulder holster or a bellyband would drive me nuts and probably not make me very popular with my kids friends who often come over to play video games. Everybody's situation is different...

You're all missing the point: you lash the bad guy to the torture device and see how flexible he really is!

I have children in similar ages. I have two Electronic Gunvaults in the house. One is never to far off you can get into them in less than a second and they are child proof. Heck one of mine tells me if someone has tampered with it. Great for guns and kids and you still need quick access. You also don't have to scare your kids friends.
