I have enjoyed reading some of the tactics on here
concerning home invasions.

Most here will agree that to search through your
home room by room is a really bad idea. I read
many posts of people saying lock yourself in the
bedroom and call 911. I agree with this.

I did find somthing today on the net. Its made
by Foxlabs pepperspray...

They are called 6-Ounce Extraction Units..aka
pepperspray grenades..lol You pop the top...throw
it in your living room and it fills the whole area with
pepperspray.

You could toss this bad boy in the hallway or
living room...lock your bedroom door..might buy
you some time until the cops arrive and arrest
the bad guy.

This is fine and dandy for those of you without kids. If I tried that I might spray my 3 year old! I will stick with searching my house myself unless there is a definate attacker and I have no question he means me great harm (then he better come to me quickly...otherwise I go to him. I WILL do ALL I can to protect MY family!)

Seriously though. I have central heat/air. If that stuff gets into my garage (and it will) - it will find its way into my bedroom.

I think it really depends on the layout, and other variables like kids, as the other response pointed out.

A friend of mine shot a very small spray in his car by accident (thought it was deodorant. Couldn't use the car for 3 days, and weeks after it was still there ...

There is no way that would work in my home; the stuff would be dispersed through the heat / ac ducts. And after, how would one go about getting the stuff out of the house?

The post does raise in my mind a hypothetical device. I wonder if some sort of "flash bang" device (legal of course) could be devised to disorient an intruder. I'm thinking of unconventional stuff like small rapid fire strobes and amplified woofers going off at the push of a panic button.

Back on topic though. I like Hopyards thoughts re: a flashbang or something similar. That said, I just think these things will have too much potential to affect you as well as the potential threat.

Hasn't the military used loud noise as a form of crowd control? Flashing lights and loud noise would really break the concentration of the BG.

Good call on this one. I wonder if the muzzle noise of my 870 shooting #4 buckshot combined with a Surefire foreend would count as a "flash bang" for the purposes of this discussion...

Yeh, thats great if you want to shoot up your house to find out the noise you heard was your cat knocking something over.
