I believe that 4 on 1 (your wife) could be considered a deadly threat. They would obviously not be taking her to offer a free Latte. I carry to protect myself and my family. I am not going to allow this if I can help it. As the saying goes I'd rather be tried by 12 then (myself or her) being carried by 6. I believe courts would agree that this would be a deadly threat.

JA, I sure hope you are never involved with an incident like described...

You could probably count on an Attorney finding this post, and seeing it admitted as either people's exhibit, or the plantiff's in a civil suit?

Shoot them until they release her or I run out of ammo. If I run out of ammo, I'll go after them with my knife or bare hands until she is free.

    amen...

I would not take off running or try to evade 4 unarmed men from taking my wife...I would tell her to run!

After all the(my) shooting stopped, I would call 911.

I would trip them up and watch them fall flat on thier faces since they have no arms to stop the fall with.

What about 5 one armed men.
    Huh?

How come no one ever wants to talk about that scenario?

Sounds like a straight forward case to me, the other victim (the wife) is being kidnapped... why should someone who has the legal right to defend her not act? In Georgia, it could be a stranger, child etc and you would have the legal right to use deadly force.

All great points. Here's two more:
    1. How do you know they're not armed? Most of us carry concealed, right? And that doesn't even count hidden knives or other weapons.
    2. Substitute "your child" for "your wife" and the answer becomes even clearer.

4 guys with extra holes in them. Like someone else said, they won't get close enough to grab anyone before I take action.

Most of us would have our finger on the trigger before the van came to a complete stop, if our SA were on. And right after a nice lunch with wifey, in plain daylight. As soon as door opens and you see 4 guys coming at you with bad intent. Bang X4 then driver.............911, may I help you........

    +1. Nice post.

    Bang, repeat as needed.

It makes zero difference, IMO. Anyone attempting to actively kidnap my family right in front of me is going to meet my most immediate and proactive response ... no matter how many of them are there. That goes for the one with hands on my child or spouse, and that goes for the degenerate at the wheel of the getaway vehicle. If I'm able, my family members won't be taken. However the miscreants' reticence dictates that gets achieved is fine by me.

Shoot til the ammo runs out.Take the driver out if you can. If they get your wife in the van no telling what will happen.

In Georgia, that right there is enough to use deadly force.

If the loved one was already in the van, I would shoot the tires out/shoot the driver. If they didnt let them go I would keep shooting until they realized they need to kidnap someone else.
