Hypothetical: Man robs a store with a hypodermic needle

As the title states: Man robs a store with a hypodermic needle and even goes so far as to stab someone (Another store patron) with it during the robbery attempt

Although that is a "forceable felony" is that a justifiable shooting were he to lunge at you? Curious to see what you think

Yes. A needle is a deadly weapon. Even a hypodermic full of nothing but air can kill you (by causing an embolism). I would treat someone armed with a hypodermic the same way as someone with a knife.

+1. It's happened in my fair city more than once. The BG claimed it had HIV+ blood in it.

Think about this. Where did that needle come from? Did six other junkies just shoot up with it? Did the BG find it in a container of medical waste?

    I'm not taking that chance!

RR, that is a scary thought. That is like assuming that a BG has a revolver and wondering is the next chamber empty or loaded. I don't mean to sound like a SA but not a chance i'd personaly be willing to take.

I would treat that as an imminent threat to my life. Having no knowledge of the origins, contents, or safety of the syringe, I would feel justified in protecting myself.

I would defiantly draw on him, and if he kept coming, then it would be his funeral.

    Yes.

Since you're posting from FL, it's also worth noting that FL law allows the use of deadly force to stop any forcible felony, so you'd be equally justified in this scenario even if he didn't attack you personally.

Come at me with a needle as a weapon and there is definitely going to be some 'drawing'...it's called a 'chalk outline'.

Treat it like any other lethal weapon.

Any number of common household chemicals can be very toxic if injected. I would treat the syringe as a deadly weapon and act accordingly. This would be an immediate threat to life.
In Oklahoma, even we liberals like guns!
