    Coach Gun behind door?

For starters, a little background, we keep a 870/12 with Surefire fore-end, a Sig 556 with Surefire 520 hand-guard light, Sig 239/9mm in shoulder holster with 2 mags and FirstLight light on my side of bed and wife has Springfield compact 45 on hers. We also have a Heeler trained to open doors and clear rooms, closets, bath tub, yard and perimeter. She knows direction commands by sounds and hand signals. We live in a nice neighborhood but have had a few incidents lately, a couple of drug busts, break-ins close by(have a couple of by mothers own statement"heroin addicted son's") living in park less then a block away and a few days ago the next door neighbors sister's boyfriend was shot 5 times by her Ex boyfriend in front of house. Last night I went to get some snacks about 7:00PM and when I got home wife had 45 in hand in living room when I got home. Said that about 10 min after I left (still light but getting dark) doorbell rang and a scruffy, ball cap, t-shirt wearing male was at door, rang several times and hung around a few minutes, no car visible. Now, I have no worries about her handling a door kicker, we are both well trained and practice regularly. I have no faith in our SO and PD for PC reasons, IE, they know and allow heroin addicts to stay in park and discipline officers for being overly aggressive(shooting BG's, or pointing deadly force at threat to back-up officer using non lethal force and other PC crap).
So anyway, yes we have firearms close and wrought iron on doors and windows that we keep locked at all times, a hickory brake handle and baton by door, but sometimes the nearest, outside of safe firearm is in the bedroom. Bright Idea, Coach Gun behind door. We both shot Cowboy Action for years and can fire and reload the 12 gauge Stoeger dual trigger faster then most can fire a pump. How many gang punks can, and how long for them to load and figure out how to work it? So that's our new door gun, using #8 because it should be close range if used. We are not paranoid, just refuse to be victims and insist on coming out the winner if challenged.
So hows obammas change working out for ya?

I have the Stoeger Coach Gun Supreme for HD...a great little 12 ga. I also had mine reworked by Coyote Cap...it's smooooooth...easy to load and unload.
I think your coach gun is the perfect 'welcoming committee'...

I think the Coach Gun is an under-appreciated firearm. Good choice, especially if you have CAS experience. I don't know if I'd keep it right at the door, though. Why get so close to a potential "door kicker"? Maybe better at a nearby place of cover?

The trip wire attached to the trigger may be a bit over the top:)

    173ABN,

Wow, I guess Tucson has really changed, and not for the better.

It seems the PC liberal crowd has finally taken over, I'm sorry to say. Of course, with a prosecutor like LaWall, I'm not suprised. She's a real piece of work, and I don't mean that in a nice way. Mayor Lew was the last decent mayor that town had, IMHO.

As for the Double, great choice IMO. I'm setting up a friend with a home defense shotgun. He's not willing to train much, and gets corn-fuzzled by my pump gun. As much as I try to convince him to train more, it is to no avail. I've decided to set up a Coach Gun with a Mag-Light taped to the barrels. I've got him doing quick reloads using a method I use in CAS.

So far we've done a "walk-through" of his house and decided that the "saferoom" is his son's room. Now I just have to get him to stop thinking that if he hears a noise he can fire a warning shot at the TV.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm dealing with an educated person and not a backward child. The only reason I'm helping him is because he is a friend, and actually has a good head on his shoulders. I just have to get him to see reality, and face it. That's next weeks lesson.

Yea, Tucson elected Napolitano the first term, Phoenix is the good people, we, Tucson, have all the lefties here. I call it San Francisco, AZ, huge Out-Toberfest sponsored by city tax dollars every year were the do sex acts in g-strings on stages in the main park, (Reid Park). After Ronstadt Retired as police chief we got some real lulu's, one had an 18 year old friend living at her house, breaking in all her neighbors houses. Miranda was the best though, had a SGT just get promoted to LT. and still on probation, caught making porn movies in the back of his squad on duty. Not even a demotion back to SGT. Had some one going in several people's backyards and attacking them. Officer arrives on a call were he finally catches the guy in a yard, the guy attacks Officer, Officer shoots him, Officer suspended for over aggressiveness, should have waited for back-up. Had a Riot/Demonstration getting out of hand, Officer aims tear gas at some one getting aggressive, his partner backs him up with deadly force in case the gas won't stop the attack. Officer gets reprimand for again being overly aggressive. Cheaper to pay survivor benefits then offend someone and get sued. But Miranda did get our crime stats way down, to his credit, he changed the reporting procedures to the FBI. A lot of the calls don't register under the FBI classifications, all it took was a simple name change to make crime go away, lol. Guess what, he retired about a year and a half ago, he did such a good job they brought him back as an Asst. City Manager, lol. And Dumbnic is still Sheriff, not much better. We have great Officers and Deputies, just lousy leadership.

Good choice, I love mine, I don't use it for home defense, though it is accessible, I just love the intimidating lookof the SxS. I shoot a lot of skeet with mine. Found some of those colorful sights which magnitize to it on clearance for 3 bucks and that beats the traditional gold bead. I have the 26" barrels... Great gun, underrated paid less than 300 brand new!
